About The WorkPlace
The WorkPlace is a Connecticut based workforce development organization. Our mission is to develop a well-educated, well-trained, and self-sufficient workforce that can confidently compete in today’s changing global marketplace. Essential to our mission is the creation of a seamless, coordinated system of education, training and employment.
We work with a wide scope of business and industry leaders, local officials and other stakeholders to develop innovative workforce development plans that identify and address employment needs and interests. We collaborate with state and local agencies to ensure a seamless delivery of vital career advancement services that are consistent with comprehensive workforce development planning.

MassHire Greater New Bedford Workforce Board
The MassHire Greater New Bedford Workforce Board is a business-led, policy-setting board that oversees workforce development initiatives in the ten-community region stretching from Dartmouth to Wareham, MA. Appointed by New Bedford Mayor Jonathan F. Mitchell, the Board is composed of business, civic, education, labor, and community leaders.
The Department of Transitional Assistance
The Department of Transitional Assistance assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency. DTA serves one in eight residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance (cash benefits) and food assistance (SNAP benefits), as well as workforce training opportunities.

The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission
The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) helps individuals with disabilities to live and work independently. MRC is responsible for Vocational Rehabilitation, Community Living and eligibility determination for the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) federal benefits programs.
